Luminescence of oxygen related defects in zirconia nanocrystals

The luminescence of undoped tetragonal structure ZrO2 nanocrystals was studied. The luminescence intensity depends on oxygen content in gases mixture in which the nanocrystals were annealed. The distorted Zr-O bond is suggested to be the recombination center for band carriers. The oxygen deficient defect is proposed to be responsible for photoluminescence. Distribution of aquatic Oligochaeta in the Finnish Lake District

SUMMARY. The distribution of oligochaetes was examined at sampling stations grouped into three types: (1), in eutrophic and dystrophic areas or in areas polluted by pulp-mill wastewaters; (2), slightly eutrophic stations; (3), ‘clean’ stations unaffected by sewage or other inputs. Limnodrilus hoffmeisteri and Potamothrix hammoniensis were practically the only species in group 1, and the same species accounted for two thirds of the total numbers in group 2, although Peloscolex ferox and some other species also occurred. Interstitial O2 distribution in amorphous SiO2 nanoparticles determined by Raman an Photoluminescence spectroscopy

The O2 content and emission properties in silica nanoparticles after thermal treatments in oxygen rich atmosphere have been investigated by Raman and photoluminescence measurements. The nanoparticles have different sizes with average diameter ranging from 7 up to 40 nm. It is found that O2 concentration in nanoparticles monotonically increases with nanoparticles size. This finding is independent on the measurement technique and evidences that oxygen molecules are not present in all the nanoparticles volume. An oxygen monitoring and control system inside a malaxation machine to improve extra virgin olive oil quality

In recent years, oxygen content regulation during malaxation has been noted as a process parameter. The aim of this study was to identify the optimal time during the malaxation process of the olives of the Sicilian cultivar Nocellara del Belice when the presence of oxygen in the machine headspace activates the enzyme complex in favour of the volatile compounds, without compromising the phenolic composition.
